At Canyon Pipeline, our Safety Manager oversees all aspects of the Safety & Quality program for operations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop Canyon Safety & Quality programs and procedures
  • Provide onsite safety reviews, mentoring, training, and assistance to personnel
  • Proactively evaluate operation’s procedures, develop and suggest methods to improve safety and quality
  • Manage training for both Safety & Quality
  • Manage the Operator Qualification program
  • Evaluate previously unanticipated hazards and determine solutions
  • Assist with corrective actions
  • Utilize Root Cause Analysis to determine the cause of employee injuries and general liability claims
  • Maintain safety files and records; prepare reports for management as needed
  • Investigate all accidents resulting in lost time injuries or property, liability or equipment damage
  • Other duties as requested by leadership
Education, Skills, Experience Needed
  • High School Diploam or equivalent required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' underground gas utility experience
  • Familiarity with the inner workings of public gas utilities, Dominion, Southwest Gas, Intermountain Gas and Montana Dakota Utility, is a preferred as well
  • Certified Safety Professional or similar certification preferred
  • Communication skills, both written and oral
  • General Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Well versed with LMS; SuccessFactors, VeriForce, ATS, ISN Net
Working Environment
  • Work sites are often outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions
  • All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English
  • Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
  • Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
Requirements
  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
