Our Director of Business Development will focus on developing and growing our Power Transmission and Distribution customer base in accordance with the company’s short and long-term business goals and objectives. You will support operations in developing long term strategic relationships with Centuri customers and ensure that we get the contracts and work desired for our long term growth strategy.

 

*This position may be based in any of our offices across the country - relocation to Phoenix is NOT required. Frequent travel will be required, more than 50%.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key liaison for customer support, market share growth, and developing relationships with conquest customers
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers (operations, executive, supply chain) within the client organization
  • Research and build relationships with new clients and attends bid meetings
  • Work with internal multifunctional team (operations, business development, finance, legal, etc.) to develop proposals that address the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives
  • Present new products and services that enhance existing client relationships
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external business reviews
  • Attend industry functions, association events, and conferences 
  • Provide feedback and information on market trends to mid and senior level management to develop new services, products, and distribution channels
  • Identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators 
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM solution and other sales management systems
  • Work with the corporate business development team to ensure prerequisites, RFI, RFP, etc. (such as pre-qualification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner
  • Other duties as requested by leadership
Education, Skills, Experience Needed
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required
  • 15 years of demonstrated electrical sales, operations, construction, and maintenance experience required
  • Collaborative, self-starter with industry relationships
  • Ability and willingness to travel more than 50% of the time
  • Extensive knowledge of the electrical sales, operations, and replacement
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • Interpersonal skill to negotiate key business strategies or significant agreements favorable to the Company, reconciling differences to arrive at acceptable solutions
  • Ability to assist with developing annual business plan for division or organizational unit to accomplish organizational objectives
  • Ability to assist with developing and administering an expense budget for the division
  • Ability to persuade others to a course of action by instructing, convincing, or influencing through professional guidance using logic and example
  • Ability to assist with planning and scheduling activities over a year or longer, including regular review and coordination of activities required for implementation  
  • Ability to accomplish departmental, divisional, and organizational goals when information is vague and details are absent or difficult to obtain
  • Ability to solve unique problems and develop methods, systems, policies or services that have a significant impact on company objectives
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
Working Environment
  • Work is performed in an office and field environment
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
Requirements
  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
