At NPL our Senior HRBP will provide a broad range of end-to-end HR services for our Las Vegas area. You will support everything from talent acquisition through exit which includes but is not limited to: the administration of Human Resources policies and procedures, labor relations, benefits, employment practices, onboarding, salary administration, training, talent acquisition and other related functions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert human resources support in a multi-state environment (West/Southwest)
  • Heavy recruiting and sourcing for construction crew positions to fill skills gap - work with Superintendents to identify needs
  • Communicate new, changing, and existing policies and procedures, and ensure understanding and compliance
  • Address performance issues and conduct thorough investigations into claims of inappropriate behavior
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements 
  • Support change management initiatives
  • Assist managers and supervisors on employee and labor relations issues
  • Advise managers on performance management, disciplinary actions and termination decisions
  • Assist with administrative work related to processing new hires, transfers, terminations, leaves of absences and exit surveys
  • Build alliances with organizations that further our strategic employment efforts
  • Assist with new hire orientation and onboarding to ensure a smooth integration into the company’s culture
  • Assist managers and employees with career development opportunities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Education, Skills, Experience Needed

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5-7 years HR experience or equivalent education and work experience 
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products and HRIS system (SAP or SuccessFactors a plus)
  • Experience in unionized environment
  • General knowledge of all Human Resources disciplines
  • Ability to collaborate across all work groups and influence without authority
  • Knowledge of safety practices, Worker’s Compensation and basic OSHA regulations
  • Analytical, problem solving and long-term planning skills
  • Written and verbal communication skill
  • Ability to be flexible and open to multiple opinions and interpretations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Bilingual a plus

Working Environment

  • Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment
  • Regular visits to construction sites requiring use of personal protective equipment with exposure to adverse consitions
  • Minimum 25% travel
  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
  • Travel will be required as needed 
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds

Requirements
