Our Project Manager/Estimator prepares competitive construction estimates and bid-related documentation for projects. These projects for this role will be related to Traffic Control.
You will report directly to the Director of Operations.
What You'll Do
- Review proposals, specifications, and drawings
- Attend pre-bid and other meetings to determine scope-of-work and required contents of project estimates
- Create and review final estimate packages
- Lead bid strategy and presentation meetings as requested
- Review terms and conditions of subcontractor and vendor quotes; serve as a liaison with subcontractors and vendors during the bidding process
- Follow awarded contracts, including estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, overruns, procurement of material, etc
- Maintain files throughout project lifecycle
- Track existing projects and compare original budgets or projections with actuals and ensures suitable job costing
- Visit project sites to observe construction methods and provide technical support to personnel preparing estimates for assigned bids
- Other duties as requested by management
- Design, Draw, and Produce traffic control drawings as required
- Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadership
What You'll Have
• Extensive knowledge of estimating techniques, engineering disciplines and cost control systems
• Proficiency using Bidding Software, i.e. B2W, Hard Dollar, Heavy Bid, ect.
• Ability to estimate all types of civil projects/ contracts, including earthwork, utilities, paving and concrete structures, with emphasis on traffic control.
• Ability to manage several bidding projects from various private and agency sources
• Confidence to communicate with all levels of the Company, customers, and government agencies as appropriate
• Organized, accurate, and consistent
• Ability to think clearly no matter the stress or difficulty of your circumstances
• Ability to prioritize and multitask proactively to meet deadlines
• Ability to travel in-state and out of state as dictated by business needs
• Advanced mathematical skill to calculate and interpret data using percentages, ratios, averages, and medians
• Advanced Computer skills with expert skill in Excel are required
• Ability to coordinate and supervise group effort
• Written communication skill to compose complex reports, legal documents, proposals, and business plans
• Oral communication skill to communicate with customers, co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, financial reports, business plans and strategies, and legal documents
• Ability to persuade others to a course of action by instructing, convincing, or influencing through professional guidance using logic and example
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience in traffic control, estimating and project management
• Ability to draw and design traffic control plans, with the experience using rapid plan preferred

Work Environment
• Work is performed in a 75% office and 25% field work at warehouse and construction sites
• Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late, when necessary, with little or no notice
• Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
• Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 60 pounds
Legal Stuff

• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
