Our Contract Specialist will review non-revenue generating contracts and provide oversight and administration of technology platforms used by the Company to manage contract reviews and subcontractor pre-qualification.

  • Manage, on a day-to-day basis, the Company’s third-party vendor pre-qualification platform, Avetta, and the bid and contract review and approval elements of the Company’s CRM platform, Microsoft Dynamics
  • Review and negotiate non-revenue generating downstream contracts, ensuring that the Company and its subsidiaries are protected before entering into a contractual relationship with vendors, suppliers, or subcontractors
  • Provide support for the bid and contract review process for revenue generating upstream contracts
  • Coordinate with the Risk Management and Compliance departments to ensure that the Company and its subsidiaries are procuring appropriate insurance coverage and that the Company’s compliance policies are aligned with customers’ contractual requirements
  • Generate reports showing the Company’s subsidiaries’ compliance with various department policies and procedures
  • Monitor and negotiate changes to vendor and supplier agreements.
  • Performs other duties as requested by leadership to add overall team value and insight

Education, Skills, Experience Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, operations management or a related professional field required
  • Completion of legal coursework, certifications or licenses demonstrating advanced knowledge of legal concepts preferred
  • 3 years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience reviewing, analyzing, negotiating, managing and/or estimating contracts preferred
  • Knowledge of and skill in using computer software including but not limited to CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics), Microsoft Office, Avetta, Microsoft Power BI and Policy IQ preferred
  • Ability to effectively and timely communicate and present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, customers, and business contacts/agencies
  • Ability to interpret and execute a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, or schedule form
  • Leadership, timeliness, professionalism, desire to learn, and willingness to contribute to continuous improvement
  • Thorough knowledge of business in order to analyze, interpret, and apply information
  • Knowledge of department practices and procedures, and ability to support our Core Values
  • Mathematical skill to calculate and interpret data using percentages, ratios, averages, and medians
  • Skill in operating various office equipment, such as personal computer, calculator, facsimile, and copy machine
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill 
  • Interpersonal communication skills to negotiate agreements favorable to the Company, reconciling differences to arrive at acceptable solutions
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service by answering questions, providing accurate information,and responding to requests on a timely basis
  • Ability to persuade others to a course of action by instructing, convincing, or influencing through professional guidance using logic and example
  • Ability to support other employees by being directly responsible for improving information, services, or support other employees need to do their jobs
  • Ability to plan and schedule activities over a year or longer, including regular review and coordination of activities required for implementation
  • Ability to define problems, collect incomplete and difficult to obtain data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to work effectively with broad guidance and review by upper management; Precedents, professional standards, and general company practices are utilized
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Working Environment

  • Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
