Our Capital Equipment Buyer will primarily focus on the acquisition of trucks and equipment to serve our overhead and underground electric utility construction crews. You will manage the supply chain for technical and complex materials or services to ensure high availability and quality at the lowest possible total cost to our construction operations. Your responsibilities will include developing sourcing and procurement strategies to drive improved supply chain performance for given commodities and services.

  • Administer and support Centuri’s Capital Purchasing initiatives within assigned asset categories
  • Ethically negotiate/competitively quote on behalf of the company
  • Develop performance monitoring systems and manage supplier performance to ensure that contract terms and conditions are being met or exceeded
  • Engage in the supply chain processes for given asset categories including but not limited to the development of national agreements, logistics, e-business, diversity, inventory and cost reduction strategies, as well as the continued improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency thereof
  • Works closely with operations to satisfy planned and immediate equipment needs
  • Communicate purchase orders to successful suppliers
  • Update P2P system with Asset Numbers, Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders
  • Maintain regular communication with requestors with high regard to delivery timing
  • Perform invoice/quote matching to ensure accurate billing
  • Produce and communicate the Weekly Capital Report to applicable NPL stakeholders
  • Update the SAP Purchase Order status with current delivery information
  • Track and maintain Assets Under Construction (AUC) where applicable
  • Perform/document SAP testing for the Capital procurement functions of the department
  • Conduct annual reviews with suppliers with focus on survey feedback (where applicable) from operations
  • Provide vendors with budget forecasts biannually
  • Provide attentive & prompt internal and external customer support
  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership

Education, Skills, Experience Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred
  • 1- 3 years’ experience in managing and/or acquiring trucks and equipment used in electric utility construction
  • Highly organized & detail oriented with the ability to multitask, never losing sight of end goals/objectives
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and in the use of software tools for data management & analysis
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • SAP experience preferred but not required

Working Environment

  • Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds


  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
