By joining the Centuri Group Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) team, you help us in supporting our operational partners in the commitment to continuous improvement. As a team, we manage the successful implementation of SHEQ programs and are primary contributors to the creation of program standards, safety training, auditing processes, and safety culture. Our goal is to provide subject matter expertise to the business to support our customers’ needs, regulatory compliance, and, most importantly, our employees’ wellbeing.
As a Manager of Safety (SHEQ) Communications and Training you will develop and execute SHEQ Communications and SHEQ Training Programs across the Centuri Group of Companies. You will report to the SVP, Chief Safety Officer.
Position must report on-site in our Phoenix, AZ office.
What You'll Do
- Oversee the development of safety communications that build safety brand awareness and promotes frontline engagement and recognition
- Develop annual calendar of SHEQ communications including toolbox talks, One Connect messages, alerts and lessons learned based on insights from leading and lagging indicators and event learnings
- Coordinate quarterly functional SHEQ Townhall meetings
- Oversee the strategy for the execution and updating of SHEQ communication channels
- Assist in the development of KPIs to measure communication and training compliance and effectiveness
- Develop and implement companywide SHEQ training initiatives
- Maintain SHEQ training within the LMS system
- Develop strategy for training execution including online content and delivery methods as well as in class training options
- Develop training and train the trainer programs for Operations and SHEQ staff on safety programs and processes
- Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadership
What You'll Have
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Risk Management or related field, Master’s degree preferred
- 5 years management level safety and quality experience
- EHS-related credentials, OSHA certifications and/or membership in safety professional associations are desired
- Experience in the implementation / execution of communications and training strategies and programs
- Past or current experience in gas / electric distribution/transmission required
- High level of expertise in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet and LMS systems
- Demonstrated experience in enhancing safety culture, leading and lagging safety performance indicators
- Ability to travel, as required

Work Environment
- Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment
- Position is required to report on-site at our Phoenix, AZ office
- Flexibility to work different schedules and stay late with little or no notice
- Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
- Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
