Centuri is currently a subsidiary of public company and regulated utility Southwest Gas Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:SWX). Centuri recently filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) relating to a proposed initial public offering (IPO) of Centuri’s common stock, which, if successfully completed, would establish Centuri as a standalone public company with new SEC reporting requirements. 

 

Reporting to the Manager of External Reporting, you will be responsible for the preparation of various supporting schedules, disclosures, and memorandums in support of SEC filings.  
 

What You'll Do

 

  • Assist in preparing quarterly and annual SEC filings (for Southwest Gas Holdings and, if applicable, Centuri post-IPO), including 10-Q, 10-K, and earnings releases
  • Research technical accounting issues, including goodwill, new accounting standards, and ad-hoc transactions (e.g., mergers and acquisitions), and prepare related memorandums
  • Prepare journal entries for stock compensation, noncontrolling interest, consolidations, and ad-hoc transactions
  • Analyze financial statements for fluctuations within SEC filings and to aid auditors
  • Coordinate with SOX, corporate accounting, HR, and operations to gather support for disclosures
  • Prepare accurate internal financial reports for executive management during monthly financial consolidation
  • Coordinate internal control compliance, process design, and documentation
  • Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting department
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests and inquiries
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

What You'll Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 2-4 years' experience in accounting, preferably as an auditor in public accounting or within SEC reporting for a public company 
  • Active CPA License or actively pursuing certification 
  • Demonstrated experience in performing financial statement analysis

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
