Our Staff Accountant will be responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring compliance with Centuri policy, procedure, and internal controls, generating and implementing process improvements and efficiencies, and supporting various accounting department functions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic accounting functions including but not limited to:
    • Fixed asset accounting
    • General ledger reconciliation and analysi
    • Process and post weekly, monthly and quarterly journal entries
    • Job costing review
    • Regular and ad-hoc reporting
    • Review and filing of weekly and monthly journal entries
  • Review classification of expenses in the general ledger report and prepare necessary adjustments in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies; perform financial analysis
  • Communicate and work collaboratively with Corporate departments and Area operations and administration
  • Assist with various audit tasks, including providing support and/or documentation for internal and external audit and various ad-hoc reports as needed
  • Identify and help to implement process improvements/efficiencies within the accounting department
  • Promote Centuri’s Core Values, Leadership Principles, and culture
  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership

Education, Skills, Experience Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1-3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • SAP S/4 Hana and/or Construction experience is preferred
  • Strong computer proficiency, specifically in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to problem solve independently or through collaborative efforts with various personnel
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies
  • Exceptionally strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • The successful candidate must be; a self-starting multi-tasker with the ability to accomplish all assignments timely, independently, and against aggressive deadlines, professional and personable, a skilled communicator, both written and oral, and a team player
  • Must be able to work a minimum of a 40-hour work week with additional time as required

Working Environment

  • Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds

Requirements
