What You'll Do
As an Underground (UG) Lineman, you will perform skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical distribution systems. You’ll be responsible for installing, splicing, terminating, and troubleshooting underground cables, transformers, and related electrical equipment while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and reliability.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Constructing, maintaining, and repairing underground electrical distribution and service facilities.
- Installing conduit, transformers, switches, and other underground system components.
- Splicing, terminating, and testing underground cables according to specifications and safety standards.
- Locating faults and performing troubleshooting and repairs on underground circuits and equipment.
- Operating and maintaining tools and equipment such as cable pullers, hydraulic presses, and testing instruments.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, maps, and work orders to ensure proper installation and system integrity.
- Coordinating with crews and foremen to complete work safely and efficiently within project timelines.
- Maintaining accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Performing all duties in accordance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry standards.
What You'll Have
- Minimum 2 years of experience working on underground service work and distribution facilities.
- Proven ability to perform splicing, terminating, and installation of underground electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of electrical theory, safety practices, and underground construction standards.
- Experience operating and maintaining underground tools, equipment, and testing devices.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, maps, and work orders.
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship.
- Valid Class A CDL (or ability to obtain).
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and perform manual labor tasks as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of an approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program.
- Experience with both primary and secondary underground systems.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid and OSHA 10/30-hour training.

Work Environment
- Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions
- All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English
- Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
- Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
- Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
