At Linetec, our Class C Lineman - Transmission performs entry level lineman labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical transmission systems. You will be asked to work at various locations based on business need and may be required to travel to other states depending on customer demands.

 

CDL strongly preferred or ability to acquire CDL permit within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities
  • Perform new construction, maintenance and repair work on de-energized transmission lines
  • Perform entry level labor such as stringing overhead wire and setting poles and anchors
  • Frequently work around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order
  • Assist in inspecting and recognizing structural problems related to electrical transmission work
  • Assist in the troubleshooting of transmission lines 
  • Assist with the assembly and erection of towers
  • Working from an aerial ladder, assist with catching off and clipping in
  • Assist in framing and setting basic line structures
  • Assist in framing a de-energized pole structures in the air
  • Assist with installing all types of compression connections
  • Work independently on de-energized lines
  • Perform basic bucket rescues and escapes as needed
  • Other duties as requested by leadership   
Education, Skills, Experience Needed
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 1-year recent experience in the Electrical Transmission industry
  • Class A permit required and must acquire CDL A license within 60 days of hire
  • Willingness and ability to learn the job functions of a Lineman A and B
  • Must have a working knowledge of induced voltage, tying various lineman knots, grounding procedures, making up and using a hand line, proper equipment set-up, the proper use of Kellum grips, minimum approach distance, and flag and tag procedures
  • Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and work orders
  • Ability to work productively from an aerial device
  • Ability to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE
  • Ability to travel long distances on short notice and work for extended periods
  • Must be self-motivated, team-oriented and customer oriented
  • Must be able to follow Company safety rules and all other Company policies
Working Environment
  • Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions
  • All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English
  • Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
  • Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
  • Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination
Requirements
  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required
  • Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
