At Linetec, our Electrical Transmission Foreman performs skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical transmission systems. You will be asked to work at various locations based on business need and may be required to travel to other states depending on customer demands.


Class A permit required and must acquire CDL A license within 60 days of hire.

  • Perform new construction, maintenance and repair work on energized and de-energized transmission lines
  • Frequently work around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others
  • Perform skilled labor including stringing overhead wire, sagging wire, and setting poles and anchors 
  • Install transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear
  • Troubleshoot and supervise troubleshooting on primary and secondary systems
  • Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits and systems
  • Teach crews how to perform hot stick work on energized lines
  • Safely install and remove mechanical jumpers
  • Identify and locate puller and tensioner setups
  • Effectively conduct pre-job or tailgate briefings
  • Safely and correctly perform work using a load bust tool
  • Safely operate heavy equipment as needed
  • Safely perform reconductoring jobs
  • Plan, coordinate and inspect the work of crew members
  • Other duties as requested by leadership  
Education, Skills, Experience Needed
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 8 years’ recent experience in the Electrical Transmission industry
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Class A permit required and must acquire CDL A license within 60 days of hire
  • Ability to comply with company reporting procedures and complete required company paperwork
  • Must possess a working knowledge of leadership and managerial skills
  • Must have a working knowledge of induced voltage, grounding procedures, phasing sticks, minimum approach distance flag and tag procedures, line protection devices, line clearance procedures
  • Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so
  • Must possess the ability to properly phase a circuit through a substation
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and work orders
  • Ability to obtain a one shot on a recloser
  • Ability to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE
  • Ability to identify transmission primary and secondary voltage on a circuit
  • Ability to travel long distances on short notice and work for extended periods
  • Must be self-motivated, team-oriented and customer oriented
  • Must be able to follow Company safety rules and all other Company policies
Working Environment
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late or work overtime when necessary with little or no notice
  • Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions
  • Work is regularly performed around heights and in confined spaces
  • All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English
  • Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
  • Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
  • Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination
  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required
  • Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
