As an Assistant Controller, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering accurate, timely financial reporting and driving process improvements across a large, distributed team. You’ll partner with leaders across the organization, coach and develop accounting staff, and make a real impact in a fast-moving, multi-location business.
This role includes approximately 3 site visits per month to connect with stakeholders and your team. Travel is flexible and based on business needs.
What You'll Do
- Lead the monthly general ledger close, ensuring accuracy and strong reconciliations
- Manage and mentor accounting staff across AR, AP, job costing, accruals, payroll, insurance, and financial analysis
- Champion process improvements that simplify, standardize, and enhance workflow
- Collaborate with Central Office partners (payroll, benefits, insurance, IT, sourcing, legal, etc.) to ensure compliance and efficiency
- Support audits, strengthen internal controls, and maintain clear policy documentation
- Contribute to special projects for the CFO, Controllers, and senior leadership
- Step in on additional responsibilities as business needs evolve
What You'll Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including managing teams and producing financial reports
- Background in large, multi-location organizations (public accounting or international exposure a plus)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and deliver under tight deadlines
- A proven track record of developing people and building strong teams
- Excellent communication skills—able to connect with staff, stakeholders, and leadership alike
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills with strong attention to detail
- Experience in the construction industry and/or with SAP systems a plus

Work Environment
- Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment
- Flexibility to work different schedules and stay late with little or no notice
- Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
- Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
