At TPL, the work that Pipefitters do is crucial to meeting our Safety and Quality goals. A  Pipefitter performs skilled journey-level work to install, troubleshoot, and maintain underground water distribution piping systems.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and install Ductile Iron, C900, Clay, PVC, RGRCP and HDPE for Water Distribution, Sewer and Storm Drain installations

Education, Skills, Experience Needed

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • 6 months’ experience working as a Pipe Layer for water/sewer main and storm drain installs
  • Familiar with construction staking lines and grades, able to read construction stakes
  • Use of transit, lasers preferred
  • Experience in Sub-Division Development preferred
  • Familiarity with trench shoring protection systems
  • Knowledge of testing and disinfection of installed water systems
  • Commitment to doing quality work while putting safety first

Working Environment

  • Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions
  • Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
  • Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
