As a Breakout Operator, you will assist construction crews working to install or replace natural gas pipelines underground involving physically demanding construction general labor while operating specialized vehicles and earth movers. Under direct supervision, you will use a variety of equipment and machinery to safely move earth, equipment, tools, and materials to and from construction sites.

What You'll Do

  • Under direct supervision, safely operate heavy equipment such as: skidsteer, backhoe, trencher, paver, dozer, milling saw, road grater, hydro-excavator, HDD, track hoe and more
  • Under direct supervision, load and unload equipment and materials
  • Daily pre-shift vehicle and equipment inspections; maintain daily log
  • Perform regular maintenance/cleaning on assigned vehicles and equipment
  • Perform other tasks as requested by leadership

What You'll Have

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A (CDL A) with tanker endorsement is a plus

Work Environment

  • Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions
  • All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English
  • Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
  • Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
  • Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner

Legal Stuff

  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  • Valid driver’s license with no more than 3 moving violations and no DUIs within a two year rolling period
  • Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
  • Join and maintain Union membership
