Our Fleet Manager is accountable for on-going fleet maintenance and compliance initiatives within assigned area. This includes vehicle maintenance programs, licensing, title, and registration as well as the management of fuel cards and telematics. You will serve as subject matter expert resource on all matters relating to DOT/FMCSA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Administer local Driver Qualification File Program and Vehicle Maintenance Programs
  • Oversee all activities relating to motor vehicles and equipment (powered construction equipment; towable compressors; trailers and the like)
  • Coordinate with operations to ensure vehicle and equipment needs are met to fulfill production needs
  • Maintain all local/state/federal regulatory compliance and reporting as it relates to the fleet and equipment
  • Ensure vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance programs are followed, timely approval and completion of service, per preventive maintenance schedules, is met
  • Perform regular gate check inspections to ensure safety and image standards
  • Communicate effectively with drivers and equipment operators ensuring compliance with NPL fleet and equipment policies
  • Create and sustain an environment for NPL’s Culture of Personality Responsibility to Make It Safe, Do It Right, and Be Highly Productive
  • Conduct fleet reviews and internal audits
  • Participate in Division Safety Committee
  • Conduct Incident Investigations and Root Cause Analyses
  • Interview and hire crew members
  • Train employees in proper procedures and specifications
  • Mentor and develop employees for succession planning
  • Conduct performance reviews of employees
  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership

Education, Skills, Experience Needed

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience with construction equipment and 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA, PHMSA and DOT regulations
  • PennDOT/MDOT knowledge
  • Knowledge to interpret telematics and GPS data for fleet vehicles and equipment
  • General office and computer skills (Copier, I-Pad, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Understanding of third party maintenance and regulatory compliance programs
  • Ability to travel within the state routinely and out of state occasionally
  • Skill to plan strategically with analytical critical thinking skills
  • Ability to interact with public, supervisors, and coworkers professionally at all times
  • Ability to think clearly no matter the stress or difficulty of your circumstances 
  • Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence

Working Environment

  • Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment
  • Regular visits to construction sites requiring use of personal protective equipment with exposure to adverse conditions
  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
  • Travel will be required as needed 
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
  • Some travel required, approx 10%

Requirements

  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
