Our Design Drafters create new distribution and service designs for underground natural gas customers. You will provide cost effective designs and first-class customer service while balancing regulations and engineering standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, assign and direct work
  • Address complaints and resolve problems with the customers 
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to address customer requirements and deadlines
  • Act as a liaison between NPL and the customer to ensure work is reviewed and processed per contractual obligations
  • Make effective independent decisions regarding day-to-day issues that do not require team discussion, input or agreement
  • Interpret field documents and translate to Auto-CAD / hand drawn As-Builts 
  • Process documents using the customer operating systems (i.e. Field Operations Management Systems (FOMS), Oracle and Field Smart)
  • Perform analysis and quality assurance on gas installation paperwork submitted by field personnel
  • Create drawings according to company standards based on field documentation
  • Extensive interaction with field foremen and superintendents
  • Input/check Customer Work Management Information System (WMIS)
  • Log and track all data on AC’s and packages received from field personnel into FOMS
  • Create and maintain detailed spreadsheets and check lists to record construction progress on a daily basis
  • Other responsibilities as requested by leadership  

Education, Skills, Experience Needed

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; degree in design or related field preferred
  • Proficient user of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of GIS or similar mapping software is a plus
  • Experience working with underground utilities is preferred
  • Proficient in use of AUTO CAD software and free-hand drafting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; ability to maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with all customers
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to build relationships
  • Excellent analytical skills with high-level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to be effective and efficient

Working Environment

  • Work is performed in a 50% office and 50% field work at warehouse and construction sites
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds

Requirements

  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
