Locators are vital in insuring our crews work safely. Your duties involve performing semi-skilled activities related to Horizontal Directional Drilling locating.

Responsibilities

  • Set up equipment including the drill, water tanks and grounding machine
  • Perform pot holing, locating and remediation
  • Drill out following the predetermined drill path to the exit pit
  • Communicate with the operator to confirm the location of the drill head
  • Assist with the install of proper pulling gear and hook up product
  • Conduct post-job quality checks
  • Clean, check fluid levels and visually inspect equipment 
  • Complete required daily paperwork (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, etc.)
  • Other duties as requested by leadership 

Education, Skills, Experience Needed

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent 
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ of relevant experience 
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and follow job specifications 
  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage difficult customers; call center experience a plus
  • A “quick learn” with aptitude to rapidly absorb and retain information
  • Ability to stay focused and manage multiple projects simultaneously despite fast-changing conditions

Working Environment

  • Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions
  • All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English
  • Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
  • Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination

Requirements

  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
  • Join and maintain Union membership
