What You'll Do

Neuco is seeking a Field Skills Specialist to join our team! The Field Skills Specialist performs excavating and installing underground gas distribution piping systems; while providing crew members with comprehensive training and hands-on support to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to execute routine and complex tasks.  Leverages industry expertise and experience, to serve as a mentor and coach to field employees and provides guidance and support to ensure safety, efficiency, and success.

What You'll Have

  • Maintain, and have the ability to perform all industry-required Operator Qualifications and Tasks.
  • Perform and demonstrate live gas connections.
  • Perform and demonstrate mark-outs and utility locating.
  • Perform and demonstrate premark proposed work.
  • Review customer work packet and perform job walk-through.
  • Coach and mentor field employees to promote their development.
  • Ensure crew are aware of any potential risks or hazards associated with the work and advise on minimizing risks. 
  • Complete work using all field system application programs and provide hands-on training in software.
  • Complete work in compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations, and provides guidance on how to meet requirements.
  • Perform field tool calibration to ensure maximum tool performance.
  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership.

What You'll Get

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 10 years of experience in gas operations or equivalent education and experience
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in relation to gas distribution and distribution system design
  • Knowledge of construction principles and safety standards
  • Knowledge of company, customer, and state and federal regulations on gas distribution
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Must possess leadership and coaching abilities
  • Ability to use PC desktop applications including Microsoft Word & Excel

Work Environment

  • Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions
  • All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English
  • Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
  • Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
  • Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner

Legal Stuff

  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
