Under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Operations & Chief Estimator, you will be responsible for leading the execution of complex utility projects, primarily focusing on gas distribution, transmission, regulator stations, and trenchless infrastructure work. Supervise the planning, coordination, and safe execution of complex, bid-based projects that extend beyond routine work. You will lead collaboration with Project Managers, Estimators, Safety, and QA/QC teams to ensure project excellence. 

What You'll Do

  • Act as the field supervisor for complex utility projects, including regulator stations, jack and bore crossings, bridge crossings, high-pressure steel work, and major civil installations.
  •  Manage daily field operations, coordinating subcontractors and assessing crew performance.
  •  Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop and execute project-specific work plans.
  • Collaborate with Estimating and Project Management teams to plan schedules, logistics, and resource needs.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety procedures, environmental regulations, and utility company standards.
  • Maintain proactive communication with utility clients, inspectors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical support to foremen and field crews.
  • Track production quantities, maintain daily reports, and monitor project milestones.
  • Manage field change orders, resolve construction issues, and escalate delays or risks as necessary.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and pre-construction meetings.
  • Execute other duties as requested by leadership.
     

What You'll Have

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • 10+ years’ experience in relevant construction 
  • 5+ years’ experience supervising employees
  • Strong understanding of gas utility work including steel and plastic piping, pressure control systems, trenchless methods, and utility relocations.
  • Proven experience managing special or complex utility projects from start to finish.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and utility standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid, and Operator Qualification (OQ) certifications preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in daily documentation, crew tracking, and field reporting systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within New England

Work Environment

  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
  • Able to lift 50-100 lbs. consistently
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
  • Noise level is generally loud
  • Must be able to quickly move arms and legs
  • Excellent stamina is required
